DUOLOGUE
DUOLOGUE
WEEK 1
To me finding a modern duologue was the most exciting for me. I partnered up with Rashanna and went home and looked up a list of female duologues. 'Riding in cars with boys' isn't a film i've seen before although when I watched clips of the duologue between 'Beverly' and 'Fay', I really enjoyed it and I thought that the accent, story line and scene was very catchy. I showed Rashanna and she loved it too!.
We decided who should be quite quick. Rashanna wants to be Fay and I want to be Bev.
Finding the scipt wasn't easy, although I found a website of the script of the movie on http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/r/riding-in-cars-with-boys-script.html.
The script has no character names, scenes, seperation of the lines; it was very dificult to look through the whole script for the lines, but when I finally got it, I copied and pasted the scene we need and put it in a beter script format so that we could understand it and not get confused.
As soon as I gave the script to Rashanna when I next saw her we began to rehearse, we got straight into it, but putting on a 'Red Kneck' accent was harder than we expected, but we knew we weren't going to take that away because it gives our scene more humour and a better effect.
WEEK 2
We've rehearsed our scene many times, in accents, emotion and humour. We got feedback from a few of our class mates and they really enjoyed it. I think Rashanna so far is amazing at her character, she's confident with her role and is clear with her emotions and body language. She feels nervous about doing the accet but I think she does it really well. We're both already confident with our lines after saying t over and over a few times. We just keep laughing a lot because it is quite funny. We know that we're going to use books as a prop as they came back from college and it's what they use in the scene.
During this week Rashanna asked Eloise if our script is too short and she told us it was. So we wanted to watch the full film to find another scene but none of us had the time.
So I went on the hunt to look for another scene of Fay and Bev on YouTube. Luckily I found one.
The two scenes are very different, but both very effective. I thought it would be nice to show the change in the girls personalities and where in life they are in the second scene.
Just like I did for the first scene, I went onto the website and put our script in a neater format, although we can't rehearse until next week as that's the next time I see her.
WEEK 3
We only have a day and a few ours before the assessement, we have reharsed the second scene and pretty much got the lines in our heads already, we're very good at improvising if anything, especially because the lines aren't difficult. We've decided that because in the second scene they're sitting outside on sunbeds in the cold, we're going to use chairs to sit on as if they're the sunbeds.
Something we changed was the fact they're laughing through the whole time they speak (in the second scene), we think because no one knows what happened before hand that they wouldn't understand why they're laughing when talking about such an emotional topic (really they just took some kind off drug).
We're more confident with the first scene, but we're still confident with all of it. We just need to make sure we do not laugh and keep everything as we rehearsed because we're very proud of it.
